What is...the 'USL 2'?

The United Soccer League 2 used to be known as the Premier Development League, or PDL, when it was predominantly a developmental league for US Collegiate talent. Nowadays it goes by the name of USL 2, but still provides a platform for budding Collegiate and International players to showcase their talent.


So, what is the 'USL 2'?

The league is divided into 4 conferences (Eastern, Central, Southern, and Western), and is comprised of 16 divisions. The league season runs from May through July, with the playoffs decided through July and August. All teams play a regular season schedule of 14 games, seven home and seven away, within their division.

The USL League Two is the leader in pre-professional soccer in the U.S. & Canada. The League plays a crucial role in providing an elite platform for Footballers pursuing professional careers either in the US or internationally.

Throughout the United States and Canada, League Two franchises continue to provide top footballing talent the opportunity to train and compete at the highest level while maintaining their collegiate eligibility, as well as providing a platform for International talent to showcase themselves in the US. With ownership of teams coming from the likes of MLS and USL franchises, as well as leading business and sports individuals, the league creates tangible opportunities for aspiring professional Footballers.

League Two serves as the leading development platform for the game both on and off the field of play. League Two isn't just the leading national pre-professional league in the USA. The USL League Two is a defined and proven pathway for players to develop and climb the ranks of professional soccer, while its clubs become fixtures in the communities where they are situated.
