The University of Virginia, or UVA as it is more commonly known, is a public research university based in Charlottesville, Virginia. The University was founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson, founding father and former president of the United States of America! The university itself is set within the picturesque Academical Village, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for historical and cultural significance.
The University of Virginia is not only world renowned for it's academic and cultural impacts, but also it's sporting success at the college level. The school's Men's Athletics teams have been recognised for their sporting successes by being awarded the nationwide Capital One Cup for sporting excellence twice in the last 8 years, which included the 2 time NCAA National Championship Men's Soccer program. On the Women's side, the Soccer program has consistently proven their quality with a run of 24 seasons with a winning record and 6 conference titles. The university's Soccer programs boast a host of former player's that now play professionally in the US or abroad, which include West Bromwich Albion Striker Darryl Dike and USA women's player Hayley Hopkins. The UVA Men's Soccer program can also count former USA Men's team manager Bob Bradley as a former assistant coach.
